Day 109 (of 189) sometimes things take priority over “work”

Day 109 (of 189) sometimes things take priority over “work”

Had to take a cruise (BC Ferry) to a specialist about a vein issue I have. Not a big deal, but I hate being away from school – even for a day.

But

If you don’t have your health, you don’t have much and as much as I don’t like it, nobody is irreplaceable- when my father passed, someone was at his desk the next day… the system marches on.

And of course coming up to another significant anniversary of his passing, it is easy to worry everyone (and trigger a few less-than-fond memories) as my mom put it: “your age is a critical time line” (entering same age as he was when he passed) “put yourself first this time, pretty please” – and since she said “pretty please….” I guess I’ll make momma happy…..and my wife as well!

Again, not that it’s a big deal – but with health, something ignored can turn into a big thing – and we don’t want that. And of course hope that “it” (a minor surgery with a couple week recovery timeline) can be a summer date because I have never been away from school for more than a couple days (due to training courses) and most of my sick days in my career have been for out-of-town doctor appointments as my immune system has always been good even though my joints have not…

Sigh. as one of my mentors would ask: what would you be telling one of your staff to do… then do that. Gotta walk the talk I guess….
