Day 114 (of 187) I was off by one day – today was what I expected for day 113

I have been warning about this time of year for a bit. And a few of us have regularly been reminding each other about “this time of year” which can be hard on essentially the cross section of the community – despite it being “just a fortnight until spring break”. And the weather getting better. But it is deceptive – and this week ends up having…complications…that are enhanced for whatever reason(s).

So by the end of the day I was able to look at my secretary and confess I was off by a day – I expected these complications yesterday.

And I was wanting to create a bit of a checklist without getting specific:

Assembly going long ✔️

Ministry visit ✔️

Hot lunch worries ✔️

Runaway ✔️

Extra pbis checklists ✔️

Interesting phone calls ✔️

And there were some good moments – I went to check if my 6/7 setup crew (tables and chairs for a friendship soup lunch) had finished when I was checking in on a student and the teacher got me: oh no – we got busy … I looked at the class and the ten minutes before lunch… and then he saved me …busy setting up – it’s all done!

I don’t often get sucked in on jokes…. but it’s that time of year.

I’m not going to give an extensive list. I do want to reassure/confirm that if people are finding things stressful: it’s not just you. Don’t take things personally. The pattern tends to be: today/this week is an apex of stresses but happiness tends to return in about 100 hours.

But even on twitter – some people who are pretty entertaining are coming across a bit…tense (?) serious? Under pressure? Might be time to imbue some #edchats with a bit more humour (even I caught myself being a bit more “trollish” a couple times)

I am pretty much trying to be more Teflon than I even usually am. And try to model and exude a bit more humour and ease of presence – and presence everywhere. I will be working hard to be in classes even more so….until I get the text calling me back to the office area for some “more direct” supports….

And ….

But even when expecting it, doesn’t make it easier…just better prepared. Hopefully your week with day 113 has more fun! And don’t take things too seriously (with one of my dads favourite far sides)
