Day 41 (of 187) the masks of Halloween 🎃
Sigh. Halloween. Why doth thou vex me so?
Thy treats are sweet; masks hide who sayeth hello.
A chance to perchance be someothing from a dream
Yet anonymity sometimes permits us to be mean
A day that ebbs into chaos
While trying to flow as regular classes
When we wear a mask, who art we?
Are we whom we wish to be?
Do some want to release and be angry?
Or just doing and reflecting what they see?
Doth our masks mirror our wishes in a way
Or ’tis it a mask that we wear each other day?
Is a costume something for pretend
Or project what we want to do in the end?
Why do we take joy in fright?
Does a scare provide delight?
Distractions and confusions everywhere
Mixing dark and light here and there
Do our masks set us free?
Or something different let us see?
Halloween a day of treats and tricks
And emotions will always be mixed
A trickster of a day every year to be seen.
Happy Haunting – May the day and night be safe and fun
And the scarings by midnight then be done!
