Day 183 (of 186) what is success?
At the end of the year – what is success?
Getting an A on a report card?
Perfect score on a timed quiz?
Getting frustrated and then re-regulating and getting calm (and saying sorry)?
Finding out that reading can actually be fun?
Asking for help?
Crying about an issue you’d rather not talk about?
Knowing where you are going to be living in September?
Learning how to spell your own name?
Making it to school every day? On time for a solid week?
Knowing you can ask for food and won’t be questioned why?
Not visiting the office for negative reasons for so long that you figured out that you can be with the principal for good reasons too…?
(That report card mark looks less and less important even though it leads the list – I much prefer to direct kids and parents to their efolios where they can see authentic samples of student successes rather than a number/letter and a brief comment….success is more personalized than what can be put into a % letter grade or ✔️/10…..celebrate every thing!)
