Day 143 (of 186) some days there’s too much going on – even on t(ec)hursday

Day 143 (of 186) some days there’s too much going on – even on t(ec)hursday

I am mindful that Thursday’s are hard for my crew. There’s a reason I put more tech time into the day to call it T(ec)hursday – I’m able to have some flexibility in the day – because the way the day is preplanned for the convenience of our adults makes it complicated for some –

We start the day with me but then go to a whole school activity – this happens every day, 5 times a week, so part of this is a ‘regular event’

Then they spend some time with teacher #2 in the gym – this happens 3 times a week so less familiar.

And currently we at working with our numeracy lead teacher (teacher #3) which is great…..but…

Then, afterwards recess (so another transition), we go to visit teacher #4 – our music teacher – that we see two times a week (and some struggle with this extra environment)

After that we do take a tech break with my T(ec)hursday challenge on my virtual assignments site: and this is my reappearance, so I guess I’m teacher #5

Because then, once every two weeks we have a visit to the library – so a 6th teacher before lunch…..

….and of course lunch is another transition…..

And this is why I’m trying to present our afternoons as pretty regular – until it’s not. I do try and create some “flex” in our ‘consistent’ afternoons = which typically make up the shape of our thematic days….but reading is not (yet) a preferred activity….but neither is art or French….or science and socials – at least not the transition into these lesson-activities….until we are in the middle of them – then it’s remembered that these themed topic afternoons can be fun (even when we reinforce our zones of regulation and friends-for-life coping step plans…) especially when it connects back to either our tech/coding stations or our 30:30 (30mins outside for 30mins – and I’m backing it up with @perfinker Walking Curriculum) -both nature and tech can be very helpful for regulating and getting into a good headspace…..cause tomorrow is Star Wars day – let the groans begin – I know they’ll fade away…..once we get started (and Friday means after a pe game, it’s only us with minimal interruptions!
