Day 24 (of 186) thinking of educators who have passed

Day 24 (of 186) thinking of educators who have passed

This week has been tough with a number of deaths impacting our family, but today I got extra blind-sided. A colleague of mine passed after a fight with cancer – younger than me which is just the tip of the iceburg-of-issues that this brings up with me getting closer and closer to the age when my own education-father passed. But today on twitter cam an amazing shoutout:

A great shoutout to an amazing educator. I loved it but it hit me hard in the morning. Then came a double whammy at the end of the day as I  was listening to Howard Stern interview Miley Cyrus when she sang one of my favourite Tom Petty songs and it connected my thinking to educators who have passed too soon (such as one of my favourite twitter-educators Joe Bower: https://technolandy.wordpress.com/2016/01/03/day-72-of-184-______-in-memory-of-joe_bower-legacyofjoebower/

And the song stopped me. I still haven’t been able to re-listen to the whole thing….but I will soon – time heals all….

As a tweet I saw today said:

Educators did not get into the lifestyle in order to raise test scores – we became educators to make a difference in lives of learners!

Thanks you to all educators who make a difference – and make sure you give thanks to your favourites – sometimes life gets busy….don’t let it get too busy that you forget to share your thoughts to those who made a difference.
