Day 17 (of 186) Design Thinking

Day 17 (of 186) Design Thinking
I love introducing some Design a thinking via Caine’s Arcade: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=faIFNkdq96U
I love that my LRT sees how design thinking projects can be well scaffolded and differentiated so that even a student on a modified program has been able to take part (looking forward to the Turbo Toilet 2000 being shared).

I love that parents have popped in and exclaimed “this looks awesome” further inspiring both their child….and everyone around them!

I love that students are supporting each other and helping find Cardboard, give some descriptive feedback to each other along the way and…..nobody has asked about grades or marks!
I love that we were able to take a ‘design break’ to do a mini project designing a running shoe connected to Terry Fox.

Next steps:

Design a toy —> target age? advertising intro?

And more….!
Keeping a designer mindset;
Design Thinking is a methodology used by designers to solve complex problems, and find desirable solutions for clients. A design mindset is not problem-focused, it’s solution focused and action oriented towards creating a preferred future.

It blends the competencies of creativity & critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and personal & social competencies as students learn who they are as part of society.
I’m looking forward to seeing what is next!
