Day 146 (of 185) May the Fourth be with you

Day 146 (of 185) May the Fourth be with you

When the month of aprilmayjune starts really getting interesting, I found myself getting ready for today’s unofficial Star Wars day by trying to remember what happened when things got crazy for the rebels taking on the Death Star…..
Gold Leader: Its no good. I can’t maneuver!

Gold Five: Stay on target.

Gold Leader: We’re too close!

Gold Five: Stay on target.

Gold Leader: [shouts] Loosen up!

[he too is picked off by Vader]

I like taking this scene a little bit out of context for education thinking because it:

a) shows hetrarichal leadership – where a member of the team can rise up and be the situational leader

b) it is easy to worry about the distractors – and Darth Vader can be a metaphor for a wide range of distractions 😉

c) when you have set a goal, it is important to “stay on target” – this is the role of descriptive-feedback which should provide direction of what to do next

d) when you are surrounded by people who are supportive, amazing things can happen….it is harder to create “change” in isolation

e) be mindful and present. Know what it is you are trying to accomplish, and aim to finish it. Set a goal….create a plan….trust the process (this is one of my favourite reminders) because you set it in motion for a reason – mindset matters!

I love watching the Star Wars series – I always get a little more out of it at each time…..

And as the latest edition, Rogue One pointed out….be true to who you are….
