Day 87 (of 185) encountering a different kind of “final”

Day 87 (of 185) encountering a different kind of “final”

Love stumbling on something “different”. This weekend I caught wind that a local secondary was trying something a little different for their socials students…..
Some colllaboration and creativity to think about and make something that represented a specific era……

And in the gym we saw some unique exam setups…..not the traditional mix of rows and columns of desks, but….

For collaboration and sharing. For smaller groups:

And a plot to begin their processing and synthesized thinkings:

a self assessment:

And peer assessment (a gallery walk tomorrow)

And while snooping around I did see an interesting exemplar of what a student was working on:

It’s the first time, so we are all aware there will be some re-thinking by the adults, and I know it’s not as clean and neat as a test on memorization and speed (and indeed a student noted that am/c test woulda been easier), but I’m not really sure what part of life is as quick and easy as a scantron… paraphrase the grinch: …… learning … perhaps … means a little bit more….!
