Day 85 (of 185) critical thinking through mockumentaries

Day 85 (of 185) critical thinking through mockumentaries

We’ve done the brainstorming. Checked out spaghetti trees and house hippos.

And now started into our own critical thinking challenges! We have our own “legends” – two decades ago our school won a Scholastic young author contest about “The Shoe Monster”……and a “found film” may have been located about this creature.

We live by a lake. That means there are some searches for legends around lake mermaids, Shuwaggi (our lesser known lake monster and possible relation to neighbouring Ogopogo…..which I may or may not have seen once in my youth….but may have been a lighting/water trick….maybe….

The fun part is using our imaginations to try to create presentations that might trick some viewers – but in the same way that the BBC created the spaghetti tree documentary and the ?? Made the commercial about the house hippo – as an April fools trick to use creative collaboration in order to promote critical thinking.

So….looking forward to seeing the ongoing results as we use descriptive feedback loops – I’m helping them and they’re helping me….Because I’m working on one too.
