Day 45 (of 185) when kindys high jack the regularly scheduled program

“Hey Landy, what are these centres?” One of my darling little kindys asked as she entered the library. I still haven’t figured out if she never uses titles, but in some way it’s way to charming (and authentic) for me to correct. But she had noticed a few things I had set up for the “next class”and I got the sense she didn’t want to miss out on anything. 

The centres  were set up for “other classes” as they get ready for Remembrance Day. But my kindys really liked the coding centres we had done not long ago ( ) and they were really curious about what they might be able to do….because reading books is good, but……

So I called an audible (blame my football background). I let Robert Munsch read the book I was going to read and I did a quick adaption to the grade 1/2 class plan. 

It was very cool to see these learners take control of their learning. They could sense that there was something that they were going to “miss” and they didn’t really like that. They learned through our coding stations that they can explore/learn/do many of the same things (differentiated) as anybody else in our school. So, they did just that….
And we listened to some Pete the Cat books being read to us as we talked a little about Rembeance Day and a lot about working with each other. 

Feeling good about the future!!
