Day 35 (of 185) averages: learning vs game scores

Day 35 (of 185) averages: learning vs game scores

One of my kids came home saying she needed to rewrite a test. There were more inferences than she expected. She doesn’t usually need to do rewrites but sometimes will just to confirm what she remembers….

Not what she learns.

In this case it is about getting g a better score, because even though she better understands the material and the test style, and figures she will likely get full marks with a perfect score….the data will still show that she does not know 10% of the material because an average does not care about what you know….it only cares about the numeric algorithm.

I’m gonna try that if I’m ever pulled over: my car got a 0 for the last eight hours and the one hour drive home may have been “above expectations” but when you average it out officer, I’m only eligible for a ticket for going too slow!
What’s that? (Have to imagine a dialogue here)

It only matters what I’ve done most recently??

Interesting….
