Day 8 (of 185) reminder of anniversaries
Last year the learning community I have joined experienced the worst of tragedies. A year later and I want to bring up the importance of being aware of “anniversaries”. While in many case we celebrate anniversaries of “firsts” and special events – how we re-experience tragedies (and any traumatic experience) is very personal.
Some go into a state of denial (been there).
Some experience sadness (done that).
Some get angry (not that I’m consciously aware of….)
And every emotion is “right”. But even though they sometimes “come out of nowhere”…they don’t. It’s time to remember that there are always escalations in behaviour….but they can be discreet.
And I don’t go out of my way to increase awareness of upcoming anniversaries, but I do appreciate getting (and giving) the heads up when it appropriate. I’ve been caught by surprise before….and it’s always preferable to have the knowledge and not use it.
Just a reminder for the start of the year to be mindful of what may be coming up on internal calendars.
