Day 121 (of 183) time change….ugh

Maybe I’m a bit jealous that other districts are on spring break right now….I know they’ll be jealous of us when we are “off” enjoying the 2 degree warmer weather! But if nothing else, the “spring forward” does help us remember a few things….

Because everyone has “lost” an hour of sleep, school feels like it’s staring earlier for everyone….I like to think of this as apathy-building time. For some learners, this is how every morning feels. That one-size-larger-coffee-than-normal may be an energy bandage, but it’s not going to last the whole day!

Mornings are rough for many learners. It is one thing for classes to start off fast because “theres so much to get to/through” but…..sometimes it can be helpful to slow down the mornings.

Keep things calm.

Keep things quiet.

Routines help….and there is no rush, other than what we as the teachers make it.

And then…..sigh. No matter how well things appear to go…..lunch happens.

Things get busy as the day goes on. And I should know better, but of course it’s the day I also have a full library afternoon….shoulda scheduled that later in the week. I know better.

The time change: just another obstacle in the world of learning – at least each day will get better…..until the spring break hiatus resets everyone/thing.
