Day 111 (of 183) Super Hero Day
Two years ago, ultra marathoner @MrJamieMcdonald stopped by our school on his epic run across Canada. Dressed in his super hero costumes, he stopped and shared with our school his journeys around the world. More can be learned via http://jamiemcdonald.org but his message was clear: one person can make a difference – and he was helping raise the awareness of each provinces Childrens Hospital.
BC Childrens Hospital has probably had an impact on almost every school and family within our province – either via direct support or based on their research learning and sharing. It has definetely had an impact on every school I have been part of.
On his odyssey across Canada, we were lucky to have Jamie stop off and share an inspiring message which led to our learning community establishing “the last school day of february as super hero day”. Now for some of us, that is an opportunity to dress in costume. For those who don’t like to dress up…well, every super hero has a secret identity….after all, it’s not the costume that makes the hero – it’s what we do that counts!!
