Day 42 (of 183) why #movember

Day 42 (of 183) why #movember

Some say to raise the awareness of prostate cancer. I take a look at a slightly bigger picture (thus the reason why I go beyond the ‘traditional’ moustache approach) so that people ‘moustache me a question’.

Because there’s good reasons to talk about topics that “we” would prefer remain …. unmentioned.
I know too many who have kept it to themselves. And it hasn’t gone “well”.

We are doing better talking about heart disease (got my father so I’m hypersensitive to that one) and stroke and copds. But….Depression. Anxiety. Stress. Addictions.  The silent ones can be most deadly. Especially if/when “he looked so happy” or “he had so much to live for” start mixing into perceptions and misperceptions.

My own fight with chronic pain is annoying, and while not in the same league as other topics – there are some similarities: he looks fine – I feel (sad/sore/tired/pressured/etc) too. But it’s not the same. But it helps to talk – just knowing that you’re not alone can be very helpful – especially reinforcing how tough some days can be.

I worry.
Because you really can’t missed a book by its cover – and it’s way too easy to keep secrets. Let’s not keep secrets about health this month.
