Day 124 (of 188) meetings….

Day 124 (of 188) meetings….

I have mixed feelings about “meetings”. Some can be very valuable others…less so.

I’ve gotten in trouble for texting during meetings….until I shared my notes with the accuser.

Sometimes at meetings my mind wanders – in a good “making connections” kinda way.

Today was loaded with meetings:

A class meetings about what happened while I was away for a day

I had a phone meeting with a parent who didn’t want to talk/hear from me – and the spouse who did….

A meeting with our operations/facilities management about the condition of our building. I had to remove some things that kept doors open – but for the most part things were pretty good (makes it easy when good people are working hard)

Then a monthly staff meeting. Some issues that I should be anticipated “this time of year” (the winter – spring transition isn’t helped by daylight savings time…) but some excitement as we start plotting the deconstruction/reconstruction of our school support services!

Not done yet.

A dinner meeting with my wife to debrief on the week that has been (too much birthday!) and wats coming up – daughter off on a school leadership trip to China; runs to the ‘big city’…that kinda stuff

And a School Board meeting talking about budgets, technology plans and school ‘reconfigurations’ (sounds better than ‘closures’)

None of these meetings were ‘the final/only conversation – but instead part of ongoing dialogue – allowing ideas to be planted and thinkings to start percolating.

Sometimes they even lead to different thinking….!
