Day 117 (of 188) superhero day for @bcchf via @mrjamiemcdonald
Last year our school was visited by a man with a crazy plan. He dressed as a superhero and ran across Canada – raising awareness of, and money for each provinces Children’s Hospital. We were a school that was located at the right place at the right time – essentially Jamie McDonald ran by our school while we were open. And we invited him in.
His story is incredible – http://jamiemcdonald.org . He was in a children’s hospital as a youth with a spinal condition and not much movement. He has more than made up for that running….everywhere!
Dressed as ‘The Flash’ he stopped by our school on his final run to BC Chikdrens Hospital in Vancouver. A mere 450 km away….
One man making a difference. An inspiring persona to a school with school goals focused on anxiety & physical literacy. And a community which has sent many (too many?) for short and long visits to BC Children’s Hospital.
The last school day in February we will try to raise more money – but more importantly – raise awareness for the important work that our Children’s Hospital does for so many learning communities.
Thank you Jamie. Your visit and your message has not been forgotten. Hero on!!
