Day 80 (of 188) we just want to start school!! too much snow then too little power!

We got the kids into the school finally after two days of school closure due to snow (biggest snowfall I’ve experienced in such a short time – saturday I was worried about our snowpack for the spring/summer, sunday night I wasn’t worried….)

Then a transformer blew (lit up the sky in a pink hue) and the power went out…

As we worked out “what to do now” I recalled my favourite power outage – my class was working on animation videos when the principal came into the room asking if we were okay. I had no idea why. Power was out, but for our ‘tech class of grade 4s’, we didn’t notice: our server was on a battery backup and the laptops switched over to their battery sources. I was pretty pleased that during a power failure, the computer class was unaffected.

But at times when the bathrooms won’t flush after 2 times, and there’s no heat in winter….nicer to have support from the entire district (central staff to  bus drivers) to make sure everyone got home safe and sound….and ready for a fourth attempt to start 2015!!

Good things are worth the wait??
