Day 50 (of 188) reminder of “hours of thinking” #bcedbloggers

Day 50 (of 188) reminder of “hours of thinking” #bcedbloggers

Today our learning community had a couple of visitors – an MLA and two trustees. As much as I appreciated knowing about their visit ahead of time, it was nice that they just wanted to “see a typical day”. And they did – a variety of learning going on in a variety of ways in a variety of locations (including our hybrid learning commons) but…

I did have a reminder about “hours of thinking” though – and it’s an important thing to remember when “first talking about passion topics”…

In our shift from report cards to eportfolios, as a staff we have spent many hours thinking and talking about it. I know I have spent hundreds to thousands of hours “thinking and doing” – and possibly more on the topic of anxiety and self regulation…

But not everyone else has…

And it was a good reminder (and I thought it was a fun discussion – at least for me) on how to introduce concepts to people who have not spent ‘as much time’ thinking about the topics without overwhelming them! Something I will certainly continue to work on – especially with such entrenched traditions/concepts as report cards!
