Day 171 (of 184) road trip

Heading down to a tech conference in ‘the big city’: BCERAC’s IT4K12 event, became something of a road trip:

Carpooled with a VP in our district whose father hired me to a teaching position in another district once upon a time. Yes, connectivity is alive and well and thriving in BC education! Always great to have some face to face discussion time without distractions (still some lack-of-coverage zones on the Coquihalla!

Mind you, the best laid place o’ mice and men can often ‘gang aft agley’ – and a paving intervention changed our course of action – kinda like how a feedback loop in descriptive feedback can have an influence on ‘where to go next’.

But taking a side road led to continues success and more networking and building positive relationships. Another key when working with members of our learning communities: there may be blocks, but there are always ways to get around. Kind of ironic since we are heading to a tech conference: where tech is both the biggest disruptor in education yet also the biggest blocker in Ed reform (departments of techNOlogy saying ‘we can’t….not supported…etc)

Looking forward to seeing how continued networking and relationship building to further “positively disrupt education”.
