Day 55 (of 184) tech temptations

Day 55 (of 184) temptations

Today was a day of teasing. Our school finally (after being first on the list but ending up almost last due to some ‘unforeseen plant issues’) got wifi installed.

Which would be great…

Now I’m in my way to a conference on the coast 😦

I’ve been advocating, pushing, begging, etc for wifi for nearly a decade in three districts. And the day it arrived I was able to send a tweet (as the first test to the system) and ensured that it would be ready for staff and students before I headed out. But since nobody else was at school other than an itinerant teacher who is excited to now be able to check her emails – next week – I’m curious to see if anybody figures out how to connect to the system without direct instruction.

Because today wasn’t the only day of teasing.

For a few weeks we’ve had the wifi hubs installed and kids and adults have tried to connect, but without a signal (50 MB vs our current wired 1.5 MB system) there wasn’t much hope.

But tomorrow….would like to be a fly on the wall to see what happens around the school!

Learning without direct instruction. Hmmm – curious to see how it goes.
