Day 17 (of 184) ePortfolios
After doing a lot of soul searching, I’ve decided to have my students start their eportfolios using PowerPoint. This feels very old school since I first had my students using this format for their student led conferences almost a decade ago – but based on the tech we have readily available this format is the easiest to start off with.
We stated with pages indicating our likes and dislikes. Everyone knows my favorite food is pizza and the grossest thing ever is tomatoes. Ugh. It hurt to even do a goihke search for that disgusting food – the only good tomato is one that is squashed and smashed and blended with spices to make a nice – heavily processed – pizza sauce.
We are also adding academic pages where we will be able to archive and show off the growth we make in Reading Writing Numeracy etc
Photos and videos and ??? will be used to show samples throughout the year and ideally show some growth in a variety of ways!
I believe in the power of reflection – which is why I spend the time editing a ‘month in review’ video of events at our school that we show at our monthly assemblies. My gradual release of responsibility is to have my students start with a common template of an eportfolio and then personalize it better (web based) as they gain confidence and find their tech-voice!
Can hardly wait to see where we go!
