Day 12 (of 184) #geniushour – week 2

Day 12 (of 184) genius hour

It’s interesting to see the emergence (and editing) of topics and approaches of the students as they learn about them and think about how to share their learning.

The topic of dinosaurs has been self edited to Allosaurous.

One girl was frustrated with trying to get permission from people to use their photos of Bull Mastiffs so she finally took her own pictures.

When I told the boys who are exploring minecraft that their instructions have to be able to guide my wife to successfully build a house – their directions became more concise.

1:1 descriptive feedback takes time but it allows me to track what everyone is doing and what supports they need…

Such as how to upload a picture from an iPad into a desktop (ugh) that uses Windows XP.

How to find out who ‘owns’ images on the Internet and how to ask permission to reproduce them (even when it’s just do much easier to copy and use them)

How to use a variety of presentation tools and styles – not focusing only on PowerPoint or Word creations.

And primarily:
The difference between consuming copying and creating content.

Loving #geniushour!
