iPads day 9

A quiet day after a 4-day Remembrance Day long weekend, but some interesting events:
Minor: great to use the iPad as a way to record student progress – currently using Pages to support this, but…
–> using a (free) journal app that supports day-to-day events and easily imports snapshots to go next to notes – trying to see a way to combine these features – photo evidence of student progress, easily PDFable and printable.

Significant: had a TOC come in today and asking if the iPads were still floating around (great connectiveness and interest) and curious about the progress. He was also disappointed that the teacher had taken hers home and was too sick to bring it to him! (Good sense of humour!!)

Frightening – we are trying to arrange a sharing of different devices (iPad vs Galaxy Tab [loaner from a teacher] and a Microsoft Surface [loaner from an outside source]) but surface owner not sure if usefulness of the device without wifi.
One if the things ‘we’ are liking is the flexibility of the iPad to work without wifi.
Any experience with a mini network of Tabs or Surfaces? Especially without wifi?
