I was preparing a blog that would detail some of my thoughts regarding the first Leadership2.0 online workshop when I got distracted.
By a Facebook post.
From a former student.

She had been seeking a way to get in touch with me to say ‘thanks’.
It was my second year teaching and she was the goth girl in a rural school. And she lived ‘out-of-the-way’ even by rural standards (think substance farming). And she needed some ‘encouragement’ to look at school beyond k-12.
She let me know that she appreciated the push (and I let out a long sigh of relief) as she not only stuck out university but has continued through a double masters and is now TAing (I sense a doctoral coming up).

Her thoughts were that too often teachers don’t hear what students do ‘after school’ – especially those of us that change communities.

I am very thankful that technology and social media enabled her to connect with me and let me know how amazingly well she has done!

That was my Leadership2.0 blog mis-assignment!
